About the Maker:

Mike spent his early years in the mountains of Siskiyou County of northern California.

From the timbers of northern California to the mill town of Klamath Falls in southern Oregon , the timber industry was integral to his life during his formative years. Wood and metal industrial arts were the standards of middle and high school curriculum.

After a period of time at Oregon institute of Technology, Mike took a job with the Oregon, California, & Eastern Railway, a subsidiary of Weyerhauser Company where he spent more than a year riding the rails with a section crew in the mountains east of Klamath Falls 

During 1980, he attended a technical school for metal fabrication specific to the ship building industry while simultaneously serving a scholarship with Ballet Tacoma.

After dancing for 15 years, 10 professionally, Mike worked for the sculptor Richard MacDonald, in Carmel California. 

Acting as studio manager, he interviewed models, loaded armatures with clay, and acted as liaison between the foundries and the artist, setting up gallery shows as well as modeling for 7 different pieces over a year and a half.

Mike was also attending school and received an Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology.

Eventually Mike moved back to the Pacific Northwest and finished his bachelors degree in Automated Manufacturing Technology.

Shortly after graduating with highest honors,  he accepted a job with a Japanese company and moved to Japan for two months to receive his initial factory training in Semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Traveling extensively within the United States and more training in Japan, Mike spent 11 years Installing and supporting equipment for companies such as Texas Instruments, IBM, Hitachi, Sony, AMD, Intel, and Fujitsu Semiconductor.

Never having lost his roots in timber, Mike attended the Chippendale International School of Furniture near Edinburgh during their 2005-2006 school year.
